Released over 25 years ago in 1997, 17YO was one of the first bottles to leave the Distillery after reopening. Unusually delicate, yet unmistakably Ardbeg, this whisky found a place in the hearts of the Committee, and set an extraordinary standard for our future.
PALATE A beautiful, creamy texture is followed by a lovely combination of flavours, with aniseed toffee, café latte, fennel and gentle antiseptic soap. The peat smoke is present, but in a very restrained manner, and leads into a lingering aftertaste with chewy oak, cocoa powder and tar.
NOSE Fresh and clean, with hints of pine resin, aniseed, sea spray and lavender soap-very gentle, very restrained, and rather elegant for an Ardbeg. With water, there is a dist
La bouche, légèrement huileuse, est suivie d'une intense douceur mentholée,
accompagnée de pain grillé, de créosote, de savon au charbon et même d'une bouffée
d'ananas fumé. Les saveurs profondes et riches se poursuivent, avec du chocolat noir,
des crèmes à la menthe, des braises et du camphre.
LE NEZ
Un curieux soupçon d'huile d'olive vous accueille, ainsi que des touches de goudron, de
fumée, de gingembre chocolaté et même d'herbe fraîchement tondue. L'eau ouvre le
bouquet pour révéler des notes plus classiques d'
Ardbeg
, avec du fenouil, de la menthe
poivrée, de l'eucalyptus et de la corde goudronneuse au premier plan.
